Emilia Elelé is an amalgamation of a woman and her guitar. The simple and down-to-earth, sometimes dark and rough, yet ever beautiful songs handle themes such as misery, poverty, longing for beauty and - of course - love and its hardships. Sensitive and powerful mental folk.
On her first single Emilia Elelé is reminiscing her childhood during the Finnish recession in the 90's: rye crisp and peasoup, broken clothes and no hopes for gifts on christmas eve. The stripped down acoustic aesthetics highlight this depiction of poverty, while Emilia's voice ventures into harsh, even angry territories.
The single is out now on streaming platforms and a cassette single including another song will be out in March.
